Louisiana Engineering Advancement Program’s (LEAP) Summer Scholars Program: The program is a competitive and intensive four-week honors program for students who are entering the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades. Students must currently be in the eighth, ninth, or tenth grade and have a minimum 2.30 grade point average. The program is designed to improve the analytical reasoning and vocabulary skills of the students who are considering careers in engineering, mathematics and the sciences. This program is a vital piece of the overall plan to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in the state of Louisiana. In addition, the LEAP/UNITE Summer Scholars Program will incorporate field trips to further enhance the students’ experience and introduction to the field of technology.

Transportation & Energy Institute: The Transportation and Energy Institute is a four-week intensive math, science, technical writing, and robotics program. The objectives of the institute are to increase the number of students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers and increase awareness of science issues, global conservation and transportation. Experience Robotics, and other STEM related activities, Design Renewable and Sustainable Projects, Air, Water, Land Transportation Activities and Projects, ACT Preparation, Technical Writing and Career Planning, The curriculum for the program includes problem-based learning projects, use of critical thinking skills, and hands-on projects. From day one of the Institute, the participants will be introduced to math and science concepts with a green focus e.g. solar panels, alternative fuels, alternative energy, climate change, and carbon footprint.
